Seminar 2 : Memoirs and Memories of the Falklands War.

This seminar will look at the various ways in which the Falklands War was represented at the time and since. We will look at personal testimony and by looking at the competing narratives in soldier’s memoirs we can explore what happened to the soldiers both before and after the conflict and also what particular historiographical issues are raised by the use of published memoirs.

  • How is it structured? what position does the war have in the narrative?
  • How is the individual's experience presented, do they claim representivity? or do they have a purpose in sharing their story?
  • Did you find any evidence of the reception of the account?
